Which Application Form Should I Use?
Use a General Application for Administrative, Customer Service, Sales, Building Supervisors, Aquatics, Fitness positions.
Use a Working with Children Application if you'll be working with children (School-Age Programs, Day Camp, Child Watch, Teens, Sports). ***Please note: a Director or an Assistant Director for School-Aged Programs or Day Camps must have a bachelor’s degree or 2 years of college and 960 hours of verifiable experience working with children since the age of 18. Program Leaders require 480 hours of verifiable experience working with school-age children. You may use as many reference forms as necessary to accomplish this requirement.

Summer Day Camp
• Camp Chief Niwot: Traditional Day Camp experience, each week is set to a theme along with two afternoons spent at the pool and Friday at Boulder Reservoir.
• Fine Arts: Provides opportunities for campers to explore their artistic talent (i.e. drawing, painting, drama, music, dance, pottery and photography) and build different skills in art media. Two afternoons of swimming is also included.
• SET/LEGO Robotics: Campers will explore, investigate, experiment, and build while engaging in hands-on science activities. They will deepen their understanding of science, engineering and technology. Swimming and game time may also be added via Directors discretion.
Camp Director: FT summer positions directing a YMCA day camp program (Camp Chief Niwot, SET/LEGO). Applicants must be 21 and have a 4yr. degree. Applicant must also posses over 960 hours of working with school aged children in a licensed program along with a year minimum experience as Program Coordinator and/or Assistant Director Position. Applicant will work part-time April through May planning for camp and fulltime beginning Monday, June 1. Applicant must be available to work between the hours of 7:30am-5:30pm (June 1-August 13). Responsibilities include: budgets, planning, and implementation of camp programming, hiring and supervision of summer camp counselors. Experience working with 5-16 year olds. Summer CAMP experience is a plus.
Camp Assistant Directors/Unit Leaders: FT summer position (Camp Chief Niwot, SET/LEGO, Fine Arts). Applicants must be 21 and have a 4yr. degree. Applicant must also posses over 960 hours of working with school aged children in a licensed program along with a year minimum experience as Program Leader. Applicant must be available to work part time in May and fulltime beginning Monday, June 1. Applicant must be available to work between the hours of 7:30am-5:30pm (June 1-August 13). Responsibilities include: supporting Director in planning and implementing program, purchasing materials, staff development, and community relations. Individual must be organized and have the ability to multi-task. Experience working with youth ages 5-16 and summer CAMP experience is a plus.
Camp Counselors/Program Leaders: FT summer positions (Camp Chief Niwot, SET/LEGO). Applicant must be 18 and be available to work between the hours of 7:30am-5:30pm (June 1-August 13). Responsibilities include: facilitating camp programming including arts and crafts, swimming, hiking, kayaking, technical climbing, sports, and music. Applicants must provide documentation of 480 hours experience working with school age children (childcare center, babysitting, church nursery, boy/girl scouts, etc.). Summer CAMP experience is a plus.
Aquatics
Lifeguard & Swim Instructors: PT positions available at the Mapleton Center working opening shift for lifeguarding and weekends as swim instructor. Must have current Lifeguard Certification and CPR/1st Aid. Previous experience a plus.
Youth Sports
Youth Sports Officials Needed! Currently hiring part time Youth Sports Officials for the Spring Soccer Season! Officials work on Saturdays starting April 3rd and going through May 15th. Responsible for refereeing youth soccer matches (Pre-School - 6th Grade), as well as working with coaches, parents and players to ensure the program runs smoothly and in an organized fashion. There will also be lots of opportunities to help coach YMCA Sports Clinics during the week. NO REFEREEING EXPERIENCE NECESSARY - TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED. Must be 16 or older to apply and should have a strong understanding of Soccer.
School Age Programs
Program Director – School Age Program: Full time Program Director to oversee Before and After School programming at a local elementary school during the school year and full time summer camp during summer months. Must have bachelor’s degree in related field and one year experience working with School age youth K-5th grade in a licensed childcare setting, with staff management and community development experience. Responsibilities include staff management, program development, budgeting, and community development. Position requires an individual who can work fairly independently and can work in a fast paced, multi task environment. The School Age Program Department provides 12 before and after school programs, after school enrichment classes and 8 summer day camps. Benefits included/salary negotiable depending on experience. Position is needed to start by: January 11th.
Program Leaders/Group Leaders: Part time school year/full time summer. The YMCA of Boulder Valley provides programming at 12 schools before and after school, on full days when school is out and full time in the summer for youth ages K-5th grade. Applicants must be committed to being a positive role model with youth. Group Leaders will have responsibility for overseeing a specific age group and support staff. Job responsibilities include ensuring a safe and challenging environment for the participants, support for family members & other staff, and implementing programming with some input into planning. During the summer in our “Fun In The Sun” Program (June 1- August 6th), activities are planned around a specific theme each week, exploring the outdoors and their community. The program offers 3-4 weekly field trips, swim lessons, soccer league, special visitors, art, outdoor ed with a multitude of venues for children to explore their specific interests. Applicants must be 18 and provide written verification of at least 480 hours of experience working with school aged children. Bilingual (Spanish) Program Leader Positions available as well.
Part time through May 27 (15-20 hrs per week) – must be available from school dismissal time until 6pm (varies between 2:30 & 3:10 through 6pm M-F and full days when school is out. Training weeks: May 17- May 28th. Camp runs June 1 - August 6th – Program hours are from 7am-6pm, M-F Must be flexible with working a variety of shifts within program hours.
Special Needs Program Leaders/Group Leaders: PT for the remainder of BVSD ’09-’10 school year. We have participants with varying special needs that require one on one attention. Experience with individuals that are developmentally disabled is required. The YMCA of Boulder Valley provides programming at 12 schools before and after school, on full days when school is out and full time in the summer for youth ages K-5th grade. Applicants must be committed to being a positive role model with youth. Job responsibilities include ensuring a safe and challenging environment for all participants, support for family members & other staff, and implementing programming with some input into planning. Applicants must be 18 and provide written verification of at least 480 hours of experience working with children with special needs K-5th grade. Program hours are between 2:30-6pm, M,W,F - MUST BE AVAILABLE THESE HOURS!
Health & Fitness
Group Exercise Coordinator: full time (35-40 hours per week), with benefits, available at the Mapleton Center in Boulder. This position is responsible for all aspects of quality staffing for group exercise classes and programs which involve members in programs that develop physical fitness and self-confidence, help people become better leaders and supporters, and improve their quality of life. The basic job function of this position is to insure smooth operations and budget success of the Health and Wellness department. Success will be measured by member satisfaction via surveys, comment cards and anecdotal information. Additionally, budget success will entail meeting revenue goals as laid out in the forecasted budget and satisfactory class size numbers, which will positively affect retention rates. The Group Exercise Coordinator will staff the facility will persons who will provide a safe, effective workout, accurate health and wellness information, and make the class fun and enjoyable for the participants. The ideal candidate must model a professional image and provide positive feedback, motivation, and encouragement and must set an excellent example of health and wellness and member service. Minimum qualifications include: Current nationally recognized Instructor Certification, CPR and First Aid certification.
