Whether you've never stepped foot on the ice or you've been playing your entire life, the YMCA of Boulder Valley has the ice hockey program for you. We offer classes, team sports and drop-in recreational games for players of all ages.

Youth Ice Hockey

League
A 12 game, NO CHECK, recreational hockey league for youth of all levels. 10 game regular season, plus a 2 game post season tournament. Full gear is required. Teams have 1 weekday practice and a game on Saturday or Sunday; the high school league will have a ½ hour practice followed by a game on Sunday.

*Note* If you are between the ages of 4 and 8 and have little ice skating/hockey skills please consider signing up for our Instructional Hockey Class.

Youth Instructional Hockey Class
This is a great place to start playing hockey if your child has little to no experience playing ice hockey. Participants must be able to skate forward on their own with out their parents on the ice. If your child has never skated before please ask about our Learn to Skate program to get him or her started or click here for more info.

Youth Hockey Skating Skills (AGES 6 - 17)

HOCKEY SKATING - Pre-requisite: Must complete Learn to Skate levels 1A, 1B, & 2A
HOCKEY SKATING - LEVEL 2 - Full forward strides, beginning edge work, backward skating, turns, glide and crossovers, stops & starts.
HOCKEY SKATING - LEVEL 3 - Power skating, advanced edgework, backward crossovers advanced forward crossovers, power turns.

STICK AND PUCK PRACTICE (Members only)
If you would like some practice fine-tuning your stick handling, sign-up for stick and puck!  Helmets and reservations are required.  For adult/youth stick and puck, a 1:2 adult to child ratio will be enforced for the safety of the youth. Call 303-664-5455 for more information and reservations.
