The purpose of the Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguarding participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS arrive and take over. Must bring swim suit, towel and course materials and attend every class to pass course. Prerequisite: 300 yard swim, dive down 9 feet and retrieve a 10 lbs brick.

This is an opportunity to test out of the CPR-PR, CPR, AED, FIRST AID, and LIFEGUARD skills necessary for certification. Consists of a written test followed by a skills test. There will be no prompting or asking questions from the instructor. This is a test of you knowledge if you fail either test then you are required by the American Red Cross to take the full course over again to become certified. This six and a half hour Red Cross course has been revised and updated to be more educational and interactive! Learn the latest science on first aid and cardiovascular care, receive more in-depth coverage of the basics – all updated, expanded and redesigned for today’s babysitters. Take-aways include the official Babysitter’s Training Handbook, Emergency Reference Guide and Training CD-ROM, so you can practice at home. Participants should bring a lunch, pen and water bottle.
