Youth Boxing at Arapahoe (Ages 10-15)

This is a free youth fitness class inspired by boxing moves and drills. Participants are led by an experienced instructor through basic boxing skills and techniques such as: guard, movement, jab, cross, hook in a fast-paced and fun environment. Increase strength and improve endurance fast! Begins Sept 12, 2018.

Youth Fitness Bootcamp at Arapahoe (Ages 8-12)

Youth Fitness Boot Camp is a high energy fun filled exercise class. This class strives to increase the overall health and fitness level preteens in a fun, safe, positive and motivating environment by utilizing obstacles courses, fitness games, partner activities, body weight exercises, resistance bands, circuits and more. Begins Sept 10, 2018.

Feel the Beat Workshop (Ages 5-13)

The FEEL THE BEAT WORKSHOP will bring an inclusive dance experience to children who are deaf or hard of hearing and children with disabilities. Enjoy a one-of-a-kind dance program that utilizes the YMCA’s state of the art vibrational floor along with touch, Sign Language and a unique dance curriculum. Instructor Jari Makewski has been a teacher of people who are deaf, a performer and a dancer for more than 20 years. Free for members and non-members. Child Watch available for non-mobile children.

Lil’ Dancers (Ages 3-5)


Children who love to twirl, twist, shimmy and shake their groove things are invited to join the Y’s new Lil Dancers classes. An introduction to ballet, this footloose and fancy free class is designed to give your little one a life-long love of movement. Children use their imaginations and their bodies to creatively express themselves through movement games, songs and dance. Your child will trip the light fantastic with other kiddos who love to move to music.

La Familia Boxing (Ages 8-16)

Hosted at the Longmont Y, La Familia Boxing teaches kids and teens commitment, dedication, discipline, honor and respect through the sport of boxing. Both boys and girls are welcome to join this program at the Longmont Y to discover a hard-hitting sport that can change lives. Hand wraps are needed to participate.

Monday-Friday, 5:30-7:30pm, Longmont Y

Shotokan: Traditional Japanese Karate

Increase physical fitness, coordination, confidence, discipline, concentration and knowledge of self-defense skills. Bruce Green, chief instructor and 8th-degree black belt, is assisted by John Burdick, 5th degree black belt, as well as CJ Herman and Maelo Maldonado, both 4th degree black belts. Bruce Green has been training in karate for 48 years and is a certified instructor, examiner, and judge. The style of karate taught is Shotokan, a traditional form of Japanese karate. Master Yutaka Yaguchi is our regional chief instructor.

Endurance Sports and Games in the Water (Ages 13-17)

A new class designed to expose swimmers to all types of water activities. We do a little of everything — competitive swimming, synchro, water polo and skin diving. This new format will help swimmers develop healthy lifestyles by being active, building confidence, socializing and having fun.

Basketball and Volleyball (Ages 8+)

Grow your game! This one-on-one training is designed specifically for the young athlete who wants to progress in his or her sport. Your child can take his or her game to the next level with a highly experienced Y Certified Coach. Trainings are offered year-round.
