On Nov 21, all three Ys will close at noon. On Nov 22, the Arapahoe and Mapleton Ys are closed. Some areas of the Longmont Y are open 9:00am-noon. There will be no Gym Ventures on Nov 23.

YMCA INTERNSHIPS

An internship at our Y can provide university credit within degree programs and help put your classroom knowledge to work while building your resume. The length of your internship is negotiable, but generally we seek a 10-16 week committment. If you don’t see your area of interest listed, please contact us. We are willing to work with students to craft a meaningful and appropriate internship experience.

Internship opportunities are available in the following areas:

  • Health and Wellness Programming and Administration

  • Marketing and Messaging
  • Nonprofit Administration
  • Residential Camp Programming and Administration
  • School Age and Teen Programs
  • Sports and Recreation Programming and Administration

The YMCA of Boulder Valley Benefits By:

  • Having new talent and additional staff directed to specific organizational needs
  • Providing opportunities to observe potential new employees and reducing hiring risk and training time
  • Providing an opportunity for the organization to achieve its own goals of leadership development

The following conditions outline the terms of the YMCA internship program:

  • Student interns are not paid a salary during their internship, but will have the opportunity to apply for paid positions currently open at the YMCA.
  • Students will submit a cover letter, resume, YMCA internship application and a statement of their personal goals and objectives they wish to achieve in their internship.
  • Students will submit university transcripts and information from the university detailing the expectations and responsibilities of the YMCA supervisor.
  • Students will receive a copy of the job description.
  • Students will submit a work schedule to their assigned supervisor.
  • Students will document the hours and type of work done.
  • Students will participate in an evaluation of performance midway through the internship.

Additionally, Students Should Understand That:

  • A copy of their midterm evaluation will be sent to the instructor/school.
  • A final performance evaluation will be completed by the student and will include success in accomplishing goals and objectives and evaluation of the internship.
  • The supervisor will complete the necessary paperwork for documentation of the internship and submit a final performance review to the instructor/school.
  • The supervisor will provide a letter of recommendation as appropriate for the satisfactory completion of the internship.
